About Easy Sudoku

Easy Sudoku is where every solver starts, and where many experienced players return when they want a quiet, satisfying few minutes. Each board starts with 40 to 45 numbers already in place, so there is always an obvious next move waiting for you.

Every easy puzzle on vSudoku is checked before it reaches you: it has exactly one solution, and it can be finished using only the two most basic techniques — finding the single number that fits a cell, and finding the single cell where a number can go. You will never need to guess.

How to solve easy Sudoku quickly

  • Pick a digit — say 1 — and sweep the whole board looking for boxes that are missing it. Rows and columns that already contain a 1 rule out cells in that box; often only one cell is left.
  • When a row, column or box has only one or two empty cells, check them first. The missing digits are usually obvious.
  • Tap a filled number to highlight every copy of it. The highlight makes gaps jump out at a glance.
  • Avoid pencil notes at this level unless you are stuck — pure scanning is faster and builds the pattern recognition you will need later.

Frequently asked questions

How many clues does an easy Sudoku have?

Our easy puzzles start with 40 to 45 given numbers out of 81. That leaves 36 to 41 cells to fill, and every one of them can be found with simple scanning.

Is easy Sudoku good for kids?

Yes. Easy boards teach patience and step-by-step reasoning without any arithmetic. Children often enjoy them once they understand that each row, column and box needs the numbers 1 to 9 exactly once.

Will I ever have to guess?

No. Every easy puzzle is verified to be solvable with naked and hidden singles alone, and every board has exactly one solution.

When should I move up to Medium?
